Well, hello 2012!
Now I understand why bears hibernate. Sometimes you just NEED to get away from it all. Whew...this first month has just flown by and I find myself being forced to do things I just don't want to do. Exercise, laundry, job search, dishes, write on this blog, ...did I mention laundry? Anyway, I'm back...I've been up to my ears in commitments as well as taking a creative business course Hello Soul Hello Business. It's brought up a lot of demons, but has also led me to start chasing them away when they sneak up behind and start focusing on what I really want this blog and my art career to be. I see many changes in store this year and I'm kind of excited about it- I've met a ton of creative sparks in this class from all over the world and hope to even meet a few that are local along the way.
I also finished up my skethcbook for the 2012 Sketchbook Project. MAN! That was a real challenge- at least near the end. Would someone remind me not to take a course or project on any time after October 1st please?? I think if I had ordered it earlier I would not have felt so rushed- there were many images I was pleased with and some not so much but all in all I think it came together and speaks as a whole piece.
This was my first page:

The theme of my book was "Forks and Spoons" - I have no idea why I picked that theme out of many that were available- in hindsite I would kick myself. Maybe even stab my hand with a fork or shove a spoon up my nose. I did paint a giant fork in highschool - maybe I was feeling nostalgic?
Here's a peek at the middle of the book:

I discovered an artist through Pikaland that used coffee stains in her work...or maybe I just spilled my coffee.
The book will go on tour in April along with, oh I don't know, several bajillion others (ok more like thousands) to a major city near you and will even cross a few oceans!!! I'll be worldwide people!!! I'll make sure and post dates- but you can also check out their website for schedules.
Do you like my drawings? Are you my friend? Do you like the color blue? You should totally leave me some words of wisdom right now!! Thanks for visiting - I like exclamation points!!!!!!!!!

Seriously, I am completely enamored - the forks and spoons make me happy. Beautiful work!
I love the forks & spoons!!
I bet the knives felt really left out!! Interesting subject, very interesting art! Did you create some of the designs or draw real spoons and forks because some are really cool designs?!
